This was 500 times better!"

WHY I TRAIN THE WAY I DO

For 30+ years, I've specialized in one thing: helping children exposed to trauma heal, and training the clinicians who make that possible.
I've treated more than 2,000 children and families and trained over 3,000 clinicians across the country. That breadth of experience shapes everything about how I train.

I believe relationships and great trainings are co-created. It's my job to help you be great at your job, and I'm committed to helping you be exceptional and love doing this work.

I stay humble by continuing to actively treat children at my local Children's Advocacy Center, sharing my own mistakes and successes right alongside yours.
When I'm teaching you TF-CBT on a Tuesday, I applied it with a real child the week before. Everything I bring you is current, tested, and true to the work you're actually doing.

My passion comes from the privilege we share in helping families heal, and from the joy of learning and growing with you.
When you do this work well, children heal, families find their footing, and you build a practice you love for the long run.
MY APPROACH
This is a uniquely challenging time to be a therapist. We have never been more needed, had more asked of us, and had less energy to give.
I take care of the people who are taking care of people.
My role is to help you make your work sustainable without having to sacrifice yourself or compromise the quality of care a child receives.

Evidence-based training only works if you can actually use it, with the real child in front of you, in the real system you're working in. That's what I teach.
Every training I offer is built around closing the gap between completing a model and knowing how to apply it: to a nine-year-old living in foster care, with an exhausted caregiver and a life that doesn't fit a protocol. You will leave knowing how to think, not just what to do.

I don't hand you a protocol and wish you luck. I give you my full heart and passion for this work. You'll understand the theory while building a practice you love.

I help you focus your energy on what matters: doing good work and helping families heal.

WHAT CHANGES FOR YOU
When you train with me, you gain a partner. You're connected to someone who's still doing this work beside you, and to a community of clinicians who share your calling and your questions. This is a relationship that continues long after training ends, and I'm invested in your growth for the whole journey.

You'll leave with a clear plan for putting what you've learned into practice, and the tools to carry it out.
My TF-CBT trainings come with 900+ clinical interventions, research articles, and resources I've built and curated over 30+ years, yours to download and use immediately with your own clients.
Every course, whatever the model or topic, is packed with practical tools and creative approaches that make the work come alive.

And here is what all of it is for. When you do this work well, children heal, families find their footing, and you rediscover why you chose this profession in the first place.
Your outcomes grow stronger, your compassion satisfaction deepens, and your practice becomes excellent AND sustainable, a career you can genuinely love.
OTHERS' WHY
Trainees tell me they rarely have this kind of support, mentorship and attention:
"Ashley is absolutely amazing!!! The resources, her care, her clinical judgment - all are top notch!"

"I learned more in the past 2 days than in an entire course in graduate school."

"It was amazing! The videotaped role-plays were particularly impactful. By demonstrating both effective and ineffective ways to help a client develop their trauma narrative, Ashley provided a very clear, practical roadmap. It was incredibly helpful to see those clinical nuances in action, especially when navigating such a sensitive part of the treatment."

"Ashley is by far one of the best trainers I have had in my career, and I cannot thank her enough for all the support!"

"Ashley was GREAT! Very engaging and kept us interested. There was a good balance of lecture and role plays (something I truly hate normally). She was understanding that sitting still for five hours isn't realistic for all of us, and she was accommodating to that."

"This training was phenomenal, and I wish it could have been longer. It's impossible not to feel Ashley's passion for the topic and leave with so much new knowledge."
The clinicians seen with me here are people I've trained and mentored. That relationship doesn't end with training.
